Every towel is embroidered individually after you order. Your piece ships from Imabari, Japan within 10 business days of your order, by tracked international delivery. Transit typically takes a further 5–10 business days depending on your country. You will receive a tracking number by email the day it ships.
International orders may occasionally be subject to import duties or taxes levied by your country; these are the recipient's responsibility.
Your towel is personalized and made only for you, so it cannot be restocked or resold. Even so, we stand behind every stitch:
If your order arrives damaged or defective, contact us within 14 days of delivery with a photo — and choose either a free remake or a full refund. Your choice, no arguing, no restocking fees.
And if the towel simply isn't what you hoped for, we will give you a full refund — within the same 14 days. (We don't offer a remake in this case for an honest reason: every towel is machine-embroidered exactly as shown on the preview you approve, so a remake would be identical to the first.)
One note: please double-check the spelling of your name before ordering. The kanji are chosen from the spelling and pronunciation you provide, and we embroider exactly what you approve on the preview screen.
What we collect. To create your reading: the name you enter and the optional details you choose to share (country, pronunciation, personality, hobby, your own words). To fulfill your order: your shipping name, address, and email, collected and stored by Shopify at checkout.
Card details. Payments are processed entirely by Shopify, a PCI-DSS compliant platform. Your card number never touches our servers and we cannot see it.
How we use it. To generate your kanji reading, embroider and ship your order, respond to you, and — only if you opt in — send occasional emails you can unsubscribe from at any time. The reading itself is generated with the help of a third-party AI service — currently Anthropic's Claude, which we may change if another reader serves your name better — so the details you enter are processed by that service for the sole purpose of composing your reading.
What we never do. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information — to anyone, ever. We share it only with the service providers that make the shop run: Shopify (orders & payments), our AI reading provider (currently Anthropic), and Vercel (website hosting & anonymous analytics).
Your rights. Email us at slowstudio.life@gmail.com to ask what information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. We honor such requests for all customers, wherever you live (including rights under California law).
The service. Kotodama Name creates kanji readings of your name and embroiders your chosen kanji on Imabari towels. Readings use only dictionary-attested kanji readings, verified by our quality rules; the towel is produced exactly as shown on the preview you approve (embroidery may vary by a few millimeters).
Your reading is yours. You may use the kanji and its meaning story freely for personal purposes — share it, tattoo it, frame it. We may decline orders that request offensive or unlawful content.
Accuracy. You are responsible for the spelling and pronunciation you provide. Our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your order.
